Hi Brain Leeds, I'm Isaac, one of the third years, and I'd love to count on your vote for academic lead this year! I am very interested in neurology and wish to pursue it further with an intercalated degree in the subject next year.

I would be an asset to this society as academic lead, using professional contacts and experience from placement to find interesting speakers and topics. I am very interested in the clinical academic field, and have experience in research and in critically evaluating papers. My ongoing role in cardiosoc as education representative also sets me up with the tools I need to professionally network and find people to contribute to the Journal club.

I know that the skills and knowledge I would obtain from this role would be immensely helpful for my development in this field, and my passion for this role will come across in the work I do for this society.

Hi, I am a 2nd year medical student who is very interested in academic research especially one that is neuroscience, neurology or neurosurgery related. It is an area that I would like to intercalate in, so I'm always on the lookout for different opportunities. This is my first time nominating myself for a role because I think I will truly enjoy working as an academic lead for this society.
My interest started during A-levels when I based my EPQ on Alzheimer's Disease and had to research in details all the molecular changes that occurred during the progression of the disease. I would love to organise and be part of a Journal Club where we read, discuss and share interesting research articles. I also enjoy organising and planning events in general, the main event I organised last year was a bake sale for Palestine which raised around £1,000 in one day.
I have attended the Brain Leeds National Conference last year, I found it very informative and inspirational. I also spoke with different committee members and the team was very supportive and friendly, which encouraged me to want to be part of it.
I have also attended the neurology teaching series on zoom, which I found very interesting and very helpful. I think it would be even better if more neurosurgery topics are included since other societies such as Cutting Edge do not focus on neurosurgery as much as other specialities, so it's difficult for students interested in neurosurgery to find the right resources.
