Assalamulaikum,

I hope that you’re well and in health InshAllah.

My name is Maariyah and I’m running to be VP sister for ISOC in the academic 2023/24 year.

During this past academic year I’ve helped out at ISOC events and I’ve found the work to be very fulfilling and rewarding. Through ISOC I’ve met such kindhearted and genuine individuals who I’ve been able to form a friendship with. In this current age, it’s easy to feel as if we’re missing out due to the events that are held but we can’t attend as we prioritise holding on to our faith. Alhamdulillah attending ISOC events this year has eradicated that feeling and has allowed me to meet such like-minded individuals who prioritise their deen over dunya and that has been such an indescribable blessing.

I’ve volunteered over the past few years with different charities and CICs which has developed my skills on a professional and personal level. I’ve also taught a range of students from 4- 50+ which has refined my skill set and taught me numerous lessons in regards to leadership and teamwork. The skills I have developed from volunteering and teaching in the past which include but are not limited to communication, organisation and teamwork are ones that will be crucial in aiding me to carry out this role successfully.

I hope InshAllah I’ll be able to contribute to forming a stronger isoc community, organising successful isoc socials and events and strengthening our relationship with other ISOCs. I pray InshAllah I will be able to contribute to creating the same safe space that ISOC created for me this year where everyone can voice their opinions and thoughts and have an enjoyable time without worrying about transgressing the limits of our deen.
