I’m Jade, I’m local to Leeds & about to enter my final year studying Philosophy, Psychology, and Scientific Thought.

I was elected as VF’s first Wellbeing Officer last year, but unfortunately had to spend a bit of time off from committee & classes while going through some family stuff. I know as well as anyone that Uni isn’t always plain sailing, and any number of personal issues can crop up & seem insurmountable on top of academic stress.

I can also attest that our society is many students’ relief from their problems; training often being a way to physically channel internal pain & pressure (we’ve got the bruises to prove it lol), the studio a space to be present and focus on ourselves, and each member and instructor alike making up an inclusive community who uplift and celebrate one another.

My time on (and away from) the committee has given me the experience to reflect on how best to support the wellness of such a multifaceted group, and I have lots of ideas I’d love to share!

From collaborations with aligned societies to help out with fundraising for Basis (Lucy’s record is gonna be hard to break but I have faith!) - to regular wellbeing socials (let’s keep Kira & Hannah’s good buzz going) - I’m excited about the opportunity to work with VF & the Union at large to make the best of our lovely society in 2025/26 :) so vote for me if you fancy it
