The role of Child Protection Officer (CPO) requires a friendly organised person who is committed to attending and providing trainings, guiding volunteers through the DBS process and being a key role in the committee.
You will be expected to take part in national safeguarding trainings at the beginning of the semester which you will then deliver at branch level to the rest of the committee and to the volunteers. You are then tasked with guiding the volunteers through the DBS process in which you will be liaising with the activities team in Leeds University Union.
Furthermore, the CPO is a vital contact for any safeguarding queries. You will be the first port of call for volunteers in regard to safeguarding and you must deal with the reports through a process involving National Committee.
Lastly, the CPO must show up to regular committee meetings, take part in the committee discussions and make sure they are communicative with other committee members.
It is a great role which is vital to the functioning of the society!
