Hello! My name is Sarah Roberts (she/they), and I am very pleased to nominate myself for the position of Vice President for Sexpression. I am 24, in my first year of a Medical Sciences degree at The University of Leeds and have recently come out as non-binary. As a young person I suffered as a result of inadequate and sometimes non-existent relationship and sex education, and I believe no young person should experience that. Over the past couple of years, I developed a keen interest in sexual health and sex education and I am interested in it as a career in the future, hence why I initially chose to join Sexpression! Being the Vice President of Sexpression would be a truly fulfilling experience, where I would be able to share new ideas for the society in a fun, inclusive and accessible way, ensuring that all members of the society feel welcome and enthusiastic about teaching great sex ed! This position would also give me the opportunity to continue my own personal learning journey, allowing me to be as up to date as possible on important and relevant relationship, sexual health or LGBTQIA+ related news. Hello, my name is Abi Norris, I am currently a medical student intercalating in International Health wanting to stand for the role of Vice President. Having a special interest in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, I think the work done by Sexpression is so vital to break taboos surrounding conversations about sex, relationships, gender identity and sexuality; issues that as children and young adults we simply do not have enough education or discussion about. I would love the opportunity to be a part of this force – again!

This year I was the Child Protection Officer. I had so much fun getting to know the committee and being a core member for Sexpression:Leeds to mobilise the important work that we do. In my year I’ve really gotten to know the society and it’s mechanics making myself knowledgeable enough for the position of Vice President. I have given child safe-guarding trainings, helped to run events such as the joint Sex and Boob event with Uni Boob Team and been the liaison between the LUU and the committee. Furthermore, I am organised friendly and passionate, allowing me to act as the link between committee members, to support the president and ensure smooth running of the society.

Previously I have had other committee roles on Students for Global Health as Publicity Representative 2020-2021 so I am very experienced in being a committee member: responding to messages, being present at group meetings and juggling committee responsibilities with university work.

This year for Sexpression, as we are coming out of Covid-19 restrictions, I would love to see more volunteers get involved therefore I will aim to drive recruitment. I would also like to run more University events providing informative talks from key actors in the area of sexual health and sex-positivity.
