Hello, my name is Cat and I would love to be one of your next events officer! I am currently in my second year studying law living in Leeds. My favourite past time is going for walks around Leeds, my favourite being Ilkey, and finding lunch spots. I love having nights in with my house and putting on a cheesy film with lots of snacks. However, as I am running for events officer, I would like to make clear my love for any chance to socialise, whatever it is you can count me in!

I am eager to be on the committee for a few reasons. Sexpression stood out to me as their message of comprehensive sex education is something I am passionate about, and it would be a real achievement to help our community’s learning. Furthermore, having found it difficult to make friends whilst at university due to restrictions I would love to be a part of a society that helps myself and others meet likeminded people and collaborate with other societies. Going in to my third year I also want to make the most of my time at Leeds and increase Sexpression’s presence on campus.

The role of events officer would be a great fit for me. I am actively volunteering in Leeds working with the Law school and would love to support Sexpression too. Events stood out to me because I pride myself in being organised yet extroverted. I previously planned and led presentations to school children which helped me to build my own confidence and communication skills. However, my housemates would vouch for me that I also excel at party planning. I want to plan a wide range of socials appealing to everybody to ensure everyone has great time supporting such a great message.

Hello! My name is Grace, and I would like to run to be one of your events officers. I am currently in my 4th year studying medicine and I have also done a year studying medical education. I have an interest in teaching and my passion within medicine is obstetrics & gynaecology, leading me to be inevitably drawn to the Sexpression society. I am also interested in improving equality, diversity, and inclusivity (EDI) and I am on School of Medicine EDI student council. I believe these past experiences will enable me to carry out the role of events coordinator exceptionally well, as I will be able to use my organisation skills to plan events that I can promote through my role as a student EDI ambassador. I would love to be on the Sexpression committee because I am passionate about education and supporting vulnerable groups, who do not always get the recognition they deserve. I believe the best way to do this is through getting people together to build a sense of community, helping to promote awareness of the great work that Sexpression does. Therefore, being events coordinator is the perfect way for me to fulfil this. As you would imagine with most medics, I pride myself in my organisation skills, whether this be planning revision timetables or dinner party menus, I have experience in both! The first step in surviving medical school is through prioritising work-life balance, which so far, I have managed pretty well (emphasis on the “life” part). I would love to contribute to Sexpression society through planning fun events for everyone to get together and enjoy downtime that we all deserve.
