The Events Manager will take control of organising events for the charity with the assistance of the rest of the committee. They will ensure that regular events are being attended by volunteers and that they have the costume and materials that are needed for these. They will follow up after events to ensure social media posts are made, hours are uploaded and that costumes are returned. They will organise Geriatric visits, ensuring volunteers and materials as available and that the contact is expecting the volunteers and activities. They will ensure that all volunteers are attending events.”
Organising events is a major role and what Make a Smile is all about. It’s not expected for the Events Manager to take sole ownership of the events but they should oversee them effectively.
Any regular events where a contact is seen on a weekly/fortnightly or maybe monthly basis (such as every Saturday or the first Tuesday of every month), they will need to organise including emailing the contact and allocating a lead etc.
For all events, they don’t need to allocate leads as this will be done at committee meetings but they will need to follow up after the event to make sure that costumes are returned, hours logged and social media posts made.
Finally, they need to ensure that a range of events are being made, in-line with our charitable aims and objectives and with the demand of the volunteers. For example if they feel there’s not enough hospital visits and people want them, they should look at organising more and encouraging the committee to help.
