Assalamualaikum, my name is Javeria, I’m a second year law student ⚖️, and I’m running for the position of sister’s education officer. Truth be told, this is the third position I’m writing a manifesto; guess I was spoilt for choice! 🙈

Starting university, I prayed for a community in which I’d be able to increase my knowledge of Islam and take pride in my Muslim identity. ISoc provided these moments that enriched my soul through the meaningful Islamic talks and speakers they invited. I can’t forget to mention the weekly sister’s halaqah’s through which the essence of sisterhood was truly appreciated. 🫶🏼

Seeking knowledge is not only the right of a Muslim, but also our responsibility. Ultimately, it increases our god- consciousness and mindfulness. It is important that as the Muslim representative body in the university, we organise events that will provide non-Muslims and people interested in Islam with the opportunity to remove misconceptions and learn about our beautiful faith. 🌙

As your education officer, I will continue to provide the Muslim student body with insightful Islamic talks, and hope to call in a variety of engaging speakers to support our journey in becoming better Muslims.
Following the great work accomplished by the education team this year, I aim to host events in which we can all further delve into the lives of the Prophet’s عليه سلام, and become people of the Qur’an. 🏞️
