Hi I am Catherine and I’m putting myself forward to be your next Secretary, and I’m really excited about the chance to help out more with a society I genuinely love being part of.
I’ve been in PlantSoc for the past year, and it’s honestly been such a lovely community to be part of. The BBQs, allotment hangouts, and propagation swaps have been some of my favourite uni memories (and yes, the cuttings I got are now thriving on my windowsill! 🌱).
I was Secretary of the Student Management Team Committee back in sixth form, where I organised events and kept everything running smoothly and I would love to do this for PlantSoc. I’m super organised, love a good to-do list, and I’m always the person making the Google Docs and taking meeting notes (my group project can vouch for that 😅).
I study Computer Science, so I’m also pretty good with tools like Canva, Trello, Google Calendar—all that good stuff. I’d love to use those skills to help plan events, keep everyone in the loop, and make sure everything behind the scenes runs smoothly. ☺️
I will be on placement next year but I’m only about 20 minutes away from Leeds and this won’t hinder me doing my role much bc around my working hours I can come to Leeds when needed for events and meetings. I promise I will be reliable and there for the society. 💕
And of course... I really love plants. I’ve got over 25 houseplants (it’s definitely becoming a bit of a jungle), and being part of PlantSoc has been such a fun way to meet people who are just as into plants as I am.
