Playing hockey has been a part of my life since I was 3 years old. The friends I've made playing the sport have been some of my best friends and continue to be. Playing semi-professional ice hockey here in the UK is taken seriously, so having a team as including and lively as the Gryphons to be a part of is a great way to keep the fun in the game.

This year was my first year in Leeds, coming from the United States, ice hockey players know how to have a good time, always being the center of all the sports groups, even professionally. A more lively, better-planned, and exciting set of activities would have made this first year a lot more fun. While it was still good, I know I can do a lot better while also making sure the goal is to compete on the ice while still having fun.

The UK has a very large drinking culture, while you're young that's very fun, but sober socials are just as fun. With more diverse events and more extracurricular events that were unseen this year, I feel I can bring the club even closer as a family to those who don't participate in drinking.

I have a well-spoken voice that doesn't go unnoticed in the club and have taken an unofficial role as social sec the second half of this year because of the lack of socials and also the quality of them. Being in a house next year will also help with this, being able to hold BBQs, watch parties of NHL games, and other events will be a very helpful part of being a social sec, while in halls I was unable to do this year.
