Hi everyone, my name is Adrienne, and I will be running for LOMSSOC President this year!

Oral Medicine and Surgery is a strong interest of mine, and I would love to have the opportunity to bring my own ideas to further develop this key society for all students, whilst maintaining its high reputation.

I believe I would fit this role as I am a hard-working, dedicated, and organised individual who enjoys working with others towards a common goal.

Experience includes organising and implementing initiatives as part of a program to improve ‘Wellness’ in the community, working as both an Editor on committee for The Worsley Times and the dental representative by liaising with DentSoc to communicate with all dental year groups, and developing both my communication and teamworking skills. I have also attended several Oral Surgery/MaxFac events, most recently the National Undergraduate MaxFac Conference at UCL, listening to talks from leading experts This gave me both a deeper insight into the field and the inspiration for events and talks which could be applied to this society.

If elected, I would aim to:

1) ‘Refresh’ the society after the past few years of cancelled events due to COVID by working closely with other committee members to organise and recruit new, innovative speakers and host more in person events. Increase publicity both on social media and in the Worsley building as part of this.

2) Strengthen the link between medical and dental students. LOMSSOC is more unique in that it is shared between both medical and dental students, however the restrictions of recent years have separated the two. Next year I would aim to strengthen ties by holding new events aimed at welcoming both new and existing healthcare students back to the society, increasing outreach and renewing the society’s reputation.

3) Communicate and liaise more with committee members e.g., Year Reps, to ensure that all students feel included and informed, especially those in older years whose modules have a greater focus on oral surgery, and have regular meetings where we can listen to feedback from all year groups and take action as needed.
