Hey!
I am Holly and I have been on my year abroad in Canada. As there has been a lot of new members this year, many of you probably don’t know me. I study Politics and Social Policy and I am going into my final year. I have been a member of korfball since my first year at Leeds and was on committee last year as treasurer.

I love that korf is such as welcoming and non-judgemental environment where everyone can play sport and make great friends. I want to ensure this culture is maintained, promoting the society as an inclusive and accepting place.

I am friendly and approachable which is necessary as in the role, I will be the main person of contact and support for members. I am very K2K so will be active in the society. I am always happy to chat and signpost anyone to helpful resources.
In the role I will also create a google from where people can submit any concerns they have about the society anonymously. Furthermore, will work with the rest of the committee to try reduce costs so the society and events we hold are more accessible to everyone. I will also collaborate with other Leeds societies and charities like Beat.
Building off the great work Liz has already done, I will continue to utilise the buddy system for walking to/from training and socials as this is a great way to meet people and stay safe.

Hey guys! I'm sure most have you have met me by now by my name is Lena Perkins and I'm a keen member of korf. I study Medicine and am currently in third year. I would love to be Equality and Wellbeing Officer next year as I'm always looking out for others and would love a role that is dedicated to this. I have lots of ideas about how we can improve the equality and wellbeing for everyone at the club, including inclusion steps for those with disabilities, fun days out to provide escapism from work and promote wellbeing, as well as better mental health support within the club to help members in need. I would love to continue steps already in place at the club too, such as korf families and walking-home buddies. I believe that I would be very well suited to this role as I have a friendly approach, a good knowledge of inclusion and discrimination issues and a calm approach to conflict should this be needed. My personal experiences of mental health have helped inform me about how we can better support our own members and coaches, as well as my medical background having taught me about how best to support those with disabilities, how health issues may be impacting students, as well as first aid skills. I love how friendly and welcoming we are as a club and I want nothing more than to carry this on to next year by being a caring part of the committee and society! Thank you! :)
