My name is Alex Buryma, I am a second year student running for the Welfare Officer role! I have really enjoyed working on TG shows this year as assistant director for ‘Constellations’ and the director of ‘Circle Mirror Transformation’, and am so excited to get involved with the committee!

One of my favourite aspects of studying theatre direction has been learning to support the specific needs of each actor. The Welfare Officer position would allow me to expand on this knowledge, meet new people and help create a safer, more inclusive environment at TG.

As Welfare Officer, I plan to continue supporting the wellbeing of society’s members by distributing feedback forms and checking in during rehearsals. I will put emphasis on director and producer training to facilitate rehearsals safely and effectively, will schedule a drop-in hour each week for any member to address the concerns they might have, and will work closely with the rest of the committee to ensure the TG events are accessible to all.

With my previous background as the Devonshire Hall Drama President and a safeguarding trained educator, I am sure I will make a great addition to the next year’s TG committee!

What do i bring to the table... hmm lets see: - fabulous communication- i LOVE to chat so whether you want a giggle or a cry ill always, no questions be there, - i genuinely care about how everyones doing because i love my TG family and i only want peace and love for everyone always, - passionate about creating a space for YOU, whoever you may be so inclusivity, positivity and most importantly listening to what you need and doing something about it are top of my agenda, - and lastly i just love fun. fun always. But we can only have fun if everyone feels good, and thats my job so leave it to me chicas i gottcha ;)

Hi! My name is James, and I am a second-year theatre and performance student!
TG has taught me the importance of feeling supported and having a support network, as we encourage each other to be the best versions of ourselves! I believe I am a good fit for the role of welfare officer as I can support those around me and be a trusted ear for anyone who needs it.

This year I've acted (Bacchae) and assistant produced (Abigail party). Producing has taught me that frequent checkups and discussions on mental health are vital, as participating in a production is fun but often quite stressful and intense.


As welfare officer, I intend to:

Have short drop-ins to rehearsals/auditions and send well-being forms to check up on everyone.

Work closely with the inclusion officer to ensure everyone is being treated with respect and has access to all TG events.

Conduct small welfare activities (e.g. coloring books in the sun) to allow members to have a small chat if they need to.

Ensure my presence is known to new members in case they need support and allocate time for anyone who would like to have a chat.
