I'd like to further the club’s financial independence from the University funding system by re-establishing the Leeds Open and using cumulative proceeds to invest in the equipment needed to run the competitions in further years. Creating a long-term plan to build up an inventory of competition equipment would further increase the profitability of the Opens and shore up an invaluable income stream for the Club. Another possibility is to find external club (kit) sponsors.

I'd like to push for strength and conditioning sessions in the Gryphons S&C room. We could cover this with a modest increase in the membership fees for advanced fencers. This can be coupled with a shift towards encouraging bouts to 15 alongside a more understood rotation system to ensure the longer bouts don't leave people off-piste for any longer than usual. This focus would not only help the teams as they compete in their new leagues, but also prepare the rest of us for longer DE sections of competitions.

Alongside this in training, I'd like to ensure a smooth and well-defined integration for intermediates moving from beginner training up to fencing with the advanced fencers. This not only helps the intermediates develop faster, but also helps the advanced fencers with honing techniques and both will benefit from fencing a wider variety of people.

Finally, it would be good to see a consistent style and branding applied to our social media presence, which itself I believe needs to be a big focus of next year, not only to boost our presence and professionalism amongst the other societies, but to advertise ourselves more widely and attract more members year-on-year.
