The role of Umpire Sec predominantly involves communicating with umpires and being responsible for sorting out two umpires for each home fixture. You will liaise with the Fixtures Sec to find out umpire availability early on (before Beckett steal the best umpires!) and confirm who will cover what match, which often depends on the umpire’s award level and what team is playing. You will also be responsible for paying umpires, which is mainly done through uploading umpire’s bank details onto LUU Engage. This role is great for showing communication skills, planning and organisation, and can also help to develop Excel skills as this is the easiest way to view fixtures and availability.
