Hi, my name is Yusra, and I am eager to join the Access to Medicine society as Outreach Officer, as I am deeply passionate about aiding students from underprivileged backgrounds when applying to medicine. The lack of guidance and resources for some students can make medicine seem unattainable altogether, and this is something I am eager to change by connecting with local schools and generating opportunities for widening participation students.

I have gained strong communication and organisation skills through holding various student mentor roles in the past, such as being Head Girl in sixth form. This makes me confident in my ability to build relationships and network with young students. My ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people, combined with my ability to think creatively will allow me to develop new ways of engaging students. Being a student from the local area, I have first-hand insight into the challenges which students face and the lack of exposure to resources, which furthers my commitment to this role.

I firmly believe that all students, no matter their background, deserve the opportunity to pursue their ambitions. As Outreach Officer, I will dedicate myself to breaking down barriers and ensuring that aspiring medics have the support and knowledge to succeed.
This role is not simply a position to me - it is a chance to make a real, lasting impact and I would be grateful to be able to make a difference.
