After being part of Amnesty throughout my first year I’m hoping to take on more responsibility through the role of treasurer.

Attending Amnesty through this year has given me great insight into the format of meetings, how the committee works and its successes, which I hope to be able to carry on. As a treasurer keeping track of expenses and applications for funding to the LUU is key and I’d be more than happy to take that responsibility on. Studying management accounting in my first semester has also given me a good insight into managing cash flows, income, and expenses which I can use to the advantage of the society and could complete with comfortability the end of Year Treasurers report.

From a personal point of view, my interests lie in human rights surrounding homelessness’ in the UK and the effects of legislation on this community. With Leeds Amnesty being such a great group, I think there is potential for great change in the local area especially when collaborating with other groups. Amnesty’s commitment to a range of causes is what makes it so great and as part of the committee I look forward to continuing to encourage a range of diverse opinions and ideas.

I look forward to playing a part in continuing the awesome work of Amnesty at the University.
