After being part of Amnesty throughout my first year I’m hoping to take on more responsibility through the role of general committee.

Attending Amnesty through this year has given me great insight into the format of meetings, how the committee works and its successes, which I hope to be able to carry on. Being part of the general committee means I get to be involved in a range of tasks including planning the meetings and promotion of the events both in which I think I can significantly contribute.

From a personal point of view, my interests lie in human rights surrounding homelessness’ in the UK and the effects of legislation on this community. With Leeds Amnesty being such a great group, I think there is potential for great change in the local area especially when collaborating with other groups. Amnesty’s commitment to a range of causes is what makes it so great and as part of the committee I look forward to continuing to encourage a range of diverse opinions and ideas.
