The Social Media and Publicity Officer is the creative voice and digital face of the Civil Engineering Society. This role is perfect for someone who enjoys content creation, has an eye for design, and knows how to engage an audience online.
As Social Media & Publicity Officer, you will:
- Manage the society’s social media accounts, ensuring consistent and engaging communication with current and prospective members.
- Create visually appealing graphics, posters, and videos to promote events, initiatives, elections, and achievements.
- Develop a content calendar, scheduling regular posts to maintain an active online presence and maximise reach and engagement.
- Promote all society events and activities, from academic talks to social outings, ensuring they are well-publicised and attract strong attendance.
- Document and share highlights from events, including taking photos/videos, creating reels or stories, and writing engaging captions.
- Grow the society’s digital following, using creative strategies such as student takeovers, polls, competitions, and Q&As.
- Collaborate with the committee, especially the President, Events Officer, and Secretary, to ensure that all communication is timely, accurate, and aligned with the society’s brand.
- Maintain a cohesive visual identity, ensuring all publicity materials reflect the professionalism and vibrancy of the society.
- Act as a key point of contact for external promotions, such as collaborations, university-wide events, or partnerships with sponsors and companies.
