The Treasurer is the financial manager of the society, responsible for overseeing all budgeting, spending, and funding activities. This role is ideal for someone who is organised, trustworthy, and confident with numbers and spreadsheets.

As Treasurer, you will:

• Manage the society’s budget, keeping accurate records of income, expenses, and available funds throughout the academic year.
• Process all financial transactions, including event costs, reimbursements, and funding claims through the Leeds University Union (LUU) finance system.
• Create and maintain financial reports, updating the committee regularly on the society’s financial health and ensuring spending aligns with the society’s goals.
• Prepare budgets for events and initiatives, working closely with the Events Officer and President to plan cost-effective activities while maximising value for members.
• Apply for funding opportunities, including LUU grants, sponsorships, and department support. You’ll help draft proposals and financial justifications to secure funding for events or projects.
• Ensure compliance with LUU’s financial guidelines, submitting receipts, invoices, and documentation on time to meet audit and transparency requirements.
• Assist in pricing decisions, including ticket pricing for events and society membership fees, ensuring affordability and sustainability.
• Contribute to long-term financial planning, helping set up future committees for success by maintaining clear and accurate financial records.
