Web Sec

As Web Sec, you control how most of our online presence looks, which for most people may be the first impression they have of the club.

While there are other little bits, your primary responsibilities are maintaining the website and making Instagram posts and stories and responding to messages.

You don’t need to do much with the website unless you want to, in which case go for it, it’s not technically difficult! It’s mainly just updating the calendar and adding a few photos after trips.

Instagram forms one of our three communication methods along with email and Facebook. We have around 2500 followers so no pressure! You’ll need to make stories or posts with key information such as ticket releases, and posts with pictures from trips or socials. You may also want to continue making the reels with trip video. You don’t need to take all the pictures yourself (although this can be a good role for the keen photographer), you can just collate them from leaders. You don’t have to be up to do 8am stories, we can schedule!

We also get lots of messages from people on Instagram. Don’t worry, many of the messages can be given similar responses.

You may also be the first point of contact for technical issues within the committee but there aren’t many. If you can get the uni IT department to stop sending our emails to junk that’d be helpful though!

It’s overall a great fun role, especially for those with interests in graphics, communication, or photography. While there are some core elements, for the most part the role is what you make of it and you can tailor it to your available time and be creative.
