Trip Secretary
Trip Secretary is one of the top 4 committee roles and arguably the most fun! You get to choose all the trip destinations, from Sunday hikes to weekend, winter, summer and international trips (up to wider committee approval of course). You also get yourself a guaranteed spot on any trips you fancy, though you do also need to do the odd trip you’re maybe not so keen on (however, plan accordingly and you will be keen on all of them). Once you have decided trip locations, you are responsible for booking accommodation for trips, and keeping in contact with them throughout the year as the trips approach to make sure you have all the necessary info. This is a role for someone with a good knowledge of epic hiking destinations across the UK, ideally knowing little nooks and crannies of the hills that LUUHC has not yet visited!
Trip Secretary also involves taking a big role in prior organisational efforts for trips – you will be creating Facebook events to invite leaders and drivers to, and then selecting leaders and drivers for each trip. You are then responsible for organising the drivers and vehicles for each trip, and once you have done this you will liaise with the Transport Secretary to make sure everything is booked correctly! Finally, you are also responsible for putting up tickets every Monday. This is the perfect committee position for someone who is highly organised and wants to take a very active role in the club, as it does involve admin tasks most weeks as well as attending most of the trips. However, it is also one of the most rewarding roles, as you get to take the club pretty much anywhere you want, and get the satisfaction of seeing people have fun on the trips you organised (with help from the rest of the committee of course)!
