Hello everyone! I’m Anita, a 2nd year Psychology student, and I’m running for the KDS Events Officer. I would like to run for this position, in order to give back to a society that has given me so much joy and amazing experiences. Even though I have been into KPOP since 2012, I had never danced with others or in front other people. Despite my lack of dancing experience, I was able to join core group, along with being in the LUU intercomp & showcase, and nationals’ team. Joining KDS allowed me to gain confidence and dancing skills.

Being Events Officer would allow me to organise more experiences like these. As a dance society, I believe that having our own showcase would enable more members to get involve dancing on stage. I would also strive to have KDS collaborating with more dance societies within Leeds. Adding to that, I want to involve our society in more competitions, and have collaborations with Kpop Societies in other universities. Furthermore, as Events Officer, I’d aim to improve the diversity of events that we organise. For example, more sessions for members to get to know each other (through more group dinners/game nights), planning charity events and having a variety of Kpop DJs for clubbing events.


As I am currently the Treasurer for Iranian society and was a Psychology PASS leader, these roles have allowed me to understand how societies and leadership tasks work behind the scenes. This has enabled me to improve my communication skills, which are essential for the role of Events Officer, in order to network with other organisations. Also, these positions allowed me to feel confident in interacting and socialising with society members. I believe that this is a required quality as committee, as members will be able to feel like they are a part of a community. Furthermore, being organised also equips me with the ability to deal with problems that could arise when planning an event. I aim to make the process of event planning as smooth as possible.

My dedication to KDS solely as a member shows the devotion I will have for this role. This society has played an important part of experience at Leeds. If I am elected, I would put hard work in to make sure everyone enjoys themselves, and creates unforgettable memories, no matter how much dancing experience one has.

Hi, my name is Chidera, I am a 2nd year Psychology student and I am running for the position of event officer in KDS. My aim as an event officer in KDS is not just to support my fellow committee members but the members of our society and encourage more people to get involved and continue to make KDS a safe and welcoming environment.

KDS this past year has become a place where I could really enjoy and engage in the different aspects of university life which has included dancing and socializing with other individuals who have similar interests. Alongside this, KDS has further increased my passion for dance and performing and becoming part of an inclusive community thanks to our current fellow committee members who have worked so hard for us this year, so I want to give back to the society.

I believe that I am qualified for the role as I am an organized, dedicated, and passionate individual who can manage their time effectively to fulfil the roles of society efficiently and I can work well in team. Commitment is a vital skill I have been able to develop being part of my previous netball team for 2 years which not only demonstrates my dedication but has allowed me to understand a sense of team responsibility.

Finally, if elected for the role my aim as an event officer is to discuss ways in which we can increase the number of socials we hold so that there are more opportunities for members to get involved especially those who are not comfortable to attend dance tutorials. Furthermore, i aim to focus on increasing the number of collaborations that we hold with other societies and aim to organize collaborations with other kpop societies in different universities expanding KDS as a community!
