Hi everyone, I’m Shanae, a first-year Business Management with Marketing student and I am running to be your next Events Director !!! 🎉

WILS was the first society I joined, and it was one of the best decisions I made at uni. Their events introduced me to an incredible, supportive community of inspiring young women, and while strengthening my professional growth, they also allowed me to meet so many like-minded individuals and forge genuine connections.

I am incredibly passionate about continuing this legacy and want to cultivate an environment where young women can build their confidence, feel empowered, and support each other!

As Events & Social Director, I aim to create a dynamic, welcoming space where every WILS member feels connected and inspired. With a proven track record in student engagement and event planning, I’m ready to bring fresh, inclusive, and creative ideas to life.

Workshop-Style Events: "Get to Know Your Committee" socials & manager-student networking mixers.

Career Meet-Ups: Host tailored sessions for WILS Business students with alumni and industry professionals.

Creative Social Themes: Speed-friending nights, cultural socials, and wellbeing-focused gatherings.

Better Engagement: Launch polls and feedback forms to co-create events with members.

Smart Promotion: Use Reels, countdowns, and behind-the-scenes content to boost event hype.

As an active and enthusiastic member of the Women in Leadership Society, I am excited to apply for the Events Director position. This position resonates deeply with my passion for community-building, creativity, and empowering women through shared experiences. Over the past year, I have helped with registration and photography at the Empower Conference 2025 and attended the HSBC event and the networking trip to Deloitte. These experiences broadened my understanding of different career paths and inspired me to create similar enriching opportunities for other courses—beyond business—such as politics, international relations, and languages.

As for socials, I plan to recreate my entire Pinterest board, including pyjama parties, cocktail nights, karaoke and boardgame socials - with enough content for us to make some cute TikToks. I aim to team up with other female-centric societies at Leeds and across the UK to cultivate a supportive network that goes beyond our campus. Whether through informal socials or career-centric collaborations, my goal is to create a space where every woman feels seen, supported, and celebrated.

My previous roles have prepared me well for this responsibility. As a summer intern, I gained practical experience planning weekly lessons, coordinating theatre productions, and even managing social media content. Volunteering at multiple NGOs further taught me how to fundraise, pitch ideas, and work with diverse teams under tight deadlines—skills I believe are crucial for an Events Director.

I would be honoured to bring my energy, experience, and ideas to the role of Events Director, and I look forward to the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the society.

My name is Yujin Noh,
and I’m an International Business and Marketing student with a passion for bringing people together through meaningful, well-curated events. Having grown up in Korea🇰🇷, I’ve always loved creating spaces where people can connect, collaborate, and thrive—and that’s exactly what I’d love to do as your next Event Director!🎪

Since joining WILS, I’ve taken part in some incredible initiatives, from the 2025 WILS Conference to the Mentoring Scheme and panel discussions. What truly stands out to me is the way WILS fosters such a supportive and empowering environment. I would be honoured to build upon this foundation and take our events to the next level!💪🏻

Beyond WILS, I have a strong background in event planning and leadership. At university, I founded a presentation society, which, within just a year, became one of the most recognised societies on campus. I’ve also been fortunate to receive multiple awards in business and entrepreneurship, including the Grand Prize at the Business School Startup Idea Competition. These experiences have allowed me to develop creative problem-solving skills, an eye for detail, and a knack for organising events that truly engage people.🌺🏆

Hey everyone! I’m Lara Vujčić, a second-year BA Digital Media student from Croatia. After an incredible first year as an active WILS member, I’m eager to take everything I’ve learned and make next year even better as your Events Director!

💖 Proven Event Experience

As part of the Corporate & External Relations Team for the WILS Empower Conference, I secured and moderated the Social Media panel with Natalee Barnett, Sophie Noa, and Carys Anderson-Jones. This experience honed my ability to organize impactful events and engage with top industry professionals.

💖 Strong Organizational Skills

I work as a Customer Service Sales Associate at Gigsberg, a secondary marketplace for concert, sports, and live event tickets. Through this role, I’ve gained hands-on experience in coordination, multitasking, and logistics—skills that are crucial for planning seamless WILS events.

💖 Leadership & Inclusion

As the founder of a Special Olympics collaboration at my high school, I organized volunteers to support special-needs athletes through inclusive, team-focused activities. This experience strengthened my leadership and organizational skills, reinforced my commitment to inclusion, and created great memories for everyone involved!

💡 My Vision for WILS Events 2024-25 💡

💼 Networking has been one of my favorite parts of WILS, and I’m excited to keep organizing impactful events! With my connections at Sky, BBC, Channel 4, and Mondelez International, I want to expand opportunities beyond business, finance, and law—bringing in media, marketing, and FMCG professionals as well. I also hope to do office visits with our sponsors and organize workshops!

🤝 I want to foster greater involvement with societies that share our values, like Girls Training Together, Krav Maga, and more! Collaborating on events like self-defense workshops, speaker panels, and group workouts will help create a stronger, more connected community. I would also like to facilitate connections with WILS from other universities, potentially through joint trips, inter-university socials, and networking events!

🎉 I loved some of the social events this year, like the Hot Girl Walks, and I definitely want to keep them going! But I also want to make space for even more casual interactions, like pub quizzes, a WILS book club, and other fun get-togethers to strengthen friendships within the society.
