Hi everyone!

My name is Suhana, and I’m a second-year law student. I’m excited to be running for President of the Leeds Women in Leadership Society (WILS).
Last year, I had the privilege of serving as the Conference Director, where I was responsible for organising our flagship EMPOWER conference—an experience that meant a lot to me personally. Working alongside my incredible sub-committee to bring inspiring women on board was genuinely fulfilling, and I can’t think of a better way to continue uplifting others than by stepping into the role of President.

Why me?

- Strong time management and multitasking:

Last year, I successfully led the organisation of our most-attended conference yet—with over 150 attendees. We hit record ticket sales, brought on board amazing speakers like Natalie Barnett, and hosted sessions in collaboration with companies like Grant Thornton.
At the same time, I secured two vacation schemes—one at a Silver Circle law firm (these receive over 3,000 applicants each!). Oh, and I also helped organise a fashion show on the side—but that’s a story for another day.
The point is: I know how to juggle multiple responsibilities effectively, a key skill for any president.

- My vision and connections

Next year, I want to expand the number of career-focused, skills-based events, but with a twist—less of the one-way presentations, more interactive group exercises, debates, and discussions. I want to help you feel articulate and confident in any room you walk into.
Through two years of studying law and organising our conference, I’ve built valuable relationships with Magic Circle and international firms, as well as Big Four companies like EY. I plan to leverage these connections to bring unique opportunities to the society.

- A commitment to inclusivity
As an international student from India, I understand what it feels like to start from scratch, with no prior experience or network. I want to make it easier for all of you—especially those who feel like outsiders—to break into competitive industries. I’ll do this by organising events that mirror what helped me succeed, and by making sure WILS is a space that nurtures growth, confidence, and community.

WILS is close to my heart. I’ve seen what this society can do, and I’m full of ideas to take it even further. If elected, I promise to dedicate myself fully and lead with purpose, passion, and vision.
