Hi, I’m Rahim and I’m running for co-president of BSL Society alongside Olivia. We have had the privilege of being your co-presidents this year, and also to build up the society from its original formation to having regular events and lots of different activities and collaborations. We’ve enjoyed seeing the society grow and have learnt a lot from leading it this year, and would love the opportunity to continue to improve the society. We will push for more practice sessions and social events, and we have been working hard to secure a Signature-accredited course for our members (which would hopefully come into place in the next academic year if we are re-elected!). We’ve already formed connections with the University and external organisations, and we have a long list of events that people want but we didn’t have time to schedule this year; if we’re re-elected we would make these requests a priority for our events from September. We will focus on planning a wide variety of events over lots of subjects to avoid repetition and ensure that we do more teaching on deaf history and culture, which is really important to learn about.
