Aikido is a martial art from Japan based on self defence moves including locks, pins and throws. Shodokan Aikido introduces a sport element where aikido skills are put into practice. The techniques are designed to use the opponent’s attack against them so do not require any great strength to perform them well – they will teach you to use balance and movement to your advantage.
We hold training sessions at the Edge, Sports hall 2 :
Friday 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
Sunday- 2.30 pm – 4.30 pm .
Membership is now free!
Your first session is free and after that it is £2.50 per class.
A whole years worth of sessions is £70 .
A single semester is £40.
If you experience any financial issues that would prevent you from training with us, please contact us by email so we can help you.
To make sure everyone feels safe during training, we ask that you take a lateral flow test on the day of training. If you would like to show a member of the coaching team or committee your negative result, this would help everyone feel safer.
We will not, however, be enforcing this or turning away those who cannot show their negative test result on the day. We are trusting everyone to test regularly, including before class, and stay home if they test positive.
Similarly, if you have symptoms please stay home from training. Following government guidelines, you must get a PCR test (different from a lateral flow test if you have symptoms or have been in contact with someone who has recently tested positive. The coaches and committee are on hand to help if you have any questions, including where to get free tests
