Hi! I'm Hannah and I would love to be your Open Seat on committee! My main aim as Open Seat will be to organise and run workshops for all OT members focused on writing, directing and producing and acting. These workshops would also be an environment in which you can communicate with committee members and express any questions or concerns you may have. Having had some negative experiences with sudden COVID restrictions and prod team tensions, I will set up a google form specifically for concerns to allow a quick response and resolution. I would also be very excited to work as a committee liaison for productions providing advice and encouragement because I know it can be stressful at times! Welfare and wellbeing are also extremely important to me so I will make sure, either through social media or in person, that I am available to reach out to so that I can help in any way possible. I would really love to meet and work with all of you! So, please vote for me!

Hi! My name is Georgia and I am about to be in my third year at Leeds doing Fine art. I've been doing theatre for as long as I can remember and I love sharing my love for it with people. I'm so proud to say that in the second semester I was cast in Crimes of the Armstrongs with a fantastic cast and production team. It was truly life-changing and being a part of such a wonderful society has been so fun! As your open seat member, I would love to get involved in as many events the society holds as possible. I love meeting new people and organising fun things for people to get involved with and I'd love the opportunity to showcase ideas for socials and workshops. My first year was quite rough with covid being at the forefront of every missed opportunity, nobody deserves to miss out on something that they enjoy. I would like to be able to ensure that nobody does. I'd also be a friendly face to look for if you need someone to chat to, I try to go to every event that the society arranges so please come to chat with me if you see me there! I'd like to help the other committee members if they ever need any help with anything, I'm volunteering at the fringe to do press and marketing so I'd love to help on social media to get the word out about shows, workshops, events, giag, ect. I am dedicated and determined to make open theatre even more friendly and fun so please vote for me and see you all in September!

I would like to apply for Open Seat for Open Theatre.

I was a fresher in lockdown and as soon as lockdown restrictions started to lift I applied for the Theatre Societies production teams to join Theatre at University. I took A-Level Drama and loved it so much.

I wanted to continue my passion for theatre and telling stories, and I got the opportunity to do so through Open Theatre Society.

I knew no one going into Theatre at University. In the last year, I’ve been a part of three different production teams with my first ever role Producing for the Edinburgh Fringe Show. I’ve gained a tremendous amount of confidence that I never had during my first year.

Meeting incredible friends, the community of Open Theatre Society makes you feel welcome and encourages you to be crazy self. All of the above I would’ve never thought would happen being a nervous fresher going into Open Theatre Society.

I really want to encourage Freshers to third years who’ve not tried Open Theatre Society before to join and give them the support and confidence to apply or audition.

I would like to support the committee to market and publicise Open Theatre Society auditions and production team applications to reach a wider audience.

Getting posters displayed on the digital board's siles in the University, with physical posters around the union and in Old Bar, Terrance, and Common Ground. Getting involved during freshers week to get the news around to join Open Theatre.

Going to the first year accommodations to publicise Open Theatre to all the news freshers in all accommodations to encourage them to join and know that Open Theatre Society is welcome to everyone on all levels.

Encouraging new freshers to master's students to join Open Theatre Society is what I would love to bring by supporting committee in the Open Seat Role because a new fresher next year might not think of joining and could join and end up being committee for the next year.

Hi! I'm Louisa, a second year English Literature and Theatre Studies student.
I am an approachable and happy member of any team, who always has time to listen to others. These are three attributes that I think are vital to the Open Seat role. I am extremely organised and I would really enjoy using this skill as part of the society- especially setting up workshops and assisting with general admin. I have managed many social media accounts for local businesses and I am experienced in using software to help me with this. I also have previous experience in contacting businesses for sponsorship- most recently, for OT/TG's latest collaborative show ‘One Man, Two Guvnors’ where I was a producer. In this role, I was responsible for creating the show's risk assessment, sourcing costumes and props, and helped to organise the fundraiser for the show.
Also, whilst in this role, I noticed some improvements that could be made to help members of a production. For example, I think a guide on how to complete a show's risk assessment form may be of help to first-timers. Furthermore, I would like make a document for each performance to aid a production team with relevant knowledge such as: key dates, deadlines, contact information and budget tracking.

I have loved being part of the theatre scene at Leeds Uni and feel it has helped me gain confidence and a further love for the art- something I would be thrilled for everyone to experience at the GIAG workshop! I think I would be perfect for the role and have a strong understanding of what would be expected of me.
I am passionate about the society and it’s aims, processes and principles- I believe I can be an advocate for these and an asset to Open Theatre.

Hi, I’m Beth & I am applying to be Open Seat for Open Theatre! Since I joined the society at the start of first year I have really enjoyed all the opportunities and sense of community that OT offers students and I hope that, by joining the committee, I can help make OT an even more welcoming and exciting place to be! I am a Theatre & Performance student & have been doing theatre for many years, most recently being in OT’s ‘The Velvet Veins’, so I understand how to help performances run smoothly & how great drama can be for making friends and building your confidence. I am a team player and hard worker, so would love to be on the OT committee to help run and organise workshops, even more engaging GIAG’s & attract more people to the society through better publicity. Having auditioned for OT shows, one of my main goals would be to make sure plot synopsises of the shows and character breakdowns of the characters are posted ahead of auditions as, since the plays are student written and unknown, I think this would make people feel more prepared and wanting to audition. I also think it would be great to help facilitate more writing workshops to make sure fresh talent is always being shown by OT & also more regular socials are a must to make sure members of OT can interact more outside of just cast/prod teams. I look forward to contributing towards 2022/23 being Open Theatre’s best year yet :) Vote for me!
