Since I was a child I have maintained an acute awareness of the issues and injustices that women in particular are forced to face. As I have grown, so has my understanding and my agency; experiencing first hand what I had seen and heard of as a young girl significantly strengthened my resolve. In secondary school, access to period products was restricted, and as part of sorority club, I succeeded in removing these restrictions and acquiring free products in every toilet. Now, in a new city, I am again searching for community with which I can discuss and pursue meaningful change and build meaningful relationships! I would absolutely love to be part of your team. I'm an MA Modern History student from Manchester who has been a passionate supporter for gender equality for as long as I can remember. Despite only recently becoming a student at Leeds, I have quickly found a sense of community within FemSoc and would love to be able to contribute to the society that makes me feel the most welcome. Having a safe space to discuss feminist issues is such an important thing to have, and I will strive to make others feel as welcomed as I have. I consider myself an excellent listener and empathetic, and if I join the committee I will make sure everyone has their voices heard.

As an international student, I am motivated to join the Leeds University Feminist Society as a General Committee Member to contribute to its inclusive and welcoming environment. My experiences in culturally varied settings have shown me the impact that collaborative teamwork and support can have on a society’s success, and I am excited to bring these values to FemSoc.

In my current roles as a course representative and event secretary for the LUU Art Soc, I plan, manage, promote, and execute events—skills that align closely with the responsibilities of a General Committee Member. These experiences have strengthened my ability to organize events, foster open dialogue, and engage members actively, all of which are essential to supporting FemSoc’s mission. Additionally, as a participant in the Intercultural Ambassador Programme, I am developing strategies to engage diverse communities, which will help me contribute to FemSoc’s mission of inclusivity.

I am committed to fostering an inclusive community within FemSoc by encouraging student engagement, promoting events, and creating an environment where everyone feels motivated to participate. I also believe in the importance of feedback to shape our initiatives and would work to regularly gather input and new ideas, ensuring we meet our community’s evolving needs. As a General Committee Member, I aim to uphold and support FemSoc’s values, helping to build a space that welcomes everyone.
