Local Volunteering Coordinator

Hi, I am Sidney! I am a second-year Law student and I'm looking for more ways to develop team skills, meet new people and fight for causes I believe in. I am currently an NSPCC volunteer and a childline counsellor but I would love to extend my love for raising money and community work in other matters. It would be great fun to organise events, talk to local charities and meet like-minded people.

Hi, I’m Hollie and I’m running as the Local Volunteering Coordinator for Leeds RAG. Currently a second-year Media and Communications student with a particular interest in science communication and public engagement, I’d love the opportunity to meet with other RAG members and manage local volunteering projects undertaken in and around Leeds. Earlier this year, I was fortunate enough to gain a traineeship with the environmental and wellbeing charity, The Conservation Volunteers. Here, I help lead and supervise a range of individuals to undertake projects such as health and wellbeing sessions, practical conservation, woodwork, and community gardening. Alongside this, I work as a social activity leader for an English Language School and I’m currently partaking in a 3-month internship with Open Source Arts and their Kirkstall Valley Grants Scheme. The Grants Scheme aims to give local communities in and around the Kirkstall area enough funds to undertake small environmental impact-based driven projects that improve the wellbeing of local people and the outdoors. After graduating, I’m hoping to secure a career as an NGO project or volunteer officer in the UK or abroad. I believe this role would allow me to develop the appropriate skills whilst also allowing me to help make a difference. Next year will be my last at the University of Leeds and I would love to really make it count! I am committed to promoting RAG’s work whether in Leeds or further afield, and I am confident that I could help develop long-lasting impactful relationships between the society and local charities.
