"Be the change you wish to see in the world." great words said by Mahatma Gandhi have stayed with me ever since I was a child. I firmly believe in this ideology, and to take it further, I would like to be a part of the LEEDS RAISE AND GIVE (RAG) Volunteering Society as a Social Secretary. I have taken part in multiple volunteering programmes since the age of 9. I have been a part of the girl up initiative for almost two years. I actively contributed to helping uplight women's rights, safety, and hygiene in India's rural and suburban parts. Moved by witnessing the vast gender inequalities that prevail even in this "modern world", I started my own community to extend support and voices to the stories that went unheard. I have been a representative for the Leeds Indian Student Association and played a vital role in organising events. I have also organised several events, such as MUNs, charity galas etc., in school, which helped me develop skills such as communication, promotions, crowd work, crisis handling etc.
It would be an honour to be a part of RAG. This Society has done some fantastic work while still keeping it all fun. It is a perfect platform for all individuals who want to bring about improvements, individuals who want to stand up against the stereotypical and harsh systems of this world, and those who have a passion for being the change themselves.
If I get elected, I promise to make the events more inclusive for people from all backgrounds. We will keep more events regularly to spread more awareness and support for those in need. I will put in all my hard work to bring about some profound changes. I may not be the most experienced person, but I have the passion and effort it takes for this role.
The sky is our limit and let's make it beautiful together.
